SUMMARY
Lia Grey is a spirited sixteen-year-old, an opinionated, fiery girl who couldn’t care the slightest about her town’s ridiculous ideas of the proper conduct of a woman. Despite the gossip about her reputation, she is content and happy with her life, her only concern being her arranged betrothal to the town’s young blacksmith, Mark Samuels. He adores her; she can’t stand him.
Then, on a dark, August night, she is attacked by a patron of the tavern where she works, and the person she thought she was is destroyed. Torn apart by the experience and her emotions running wild, she turns to the comfort of a stranger, a man who isn't what she thought him to be.
Now, Lia must struggle through the trauma she has suffered and the consequences of the choices she has made to free herself from the shadows haunting her.

Great and captivating read. Lia is a compelling character and very relatable in many ways (I would imagine most women would find her so). The author's writing talent really shows through in the text.*SPOILERS*
My favorite parts were the dream sequences and the town that residents were unable to leave - very creative and original. I think Lia's journey is a notable and important one; trekking through the wilderness of bad circumstances and moving from a place of humiliation to humility is a difficult path. Lisa's restoration and rebirth shines through as she learns that vulnerability is not always a weakness.

This book has everything including romance,drama,action,thrill,and suspense
The story keeps you at the edge of your seat, trying to anticipate what will happen next. Very well written, full of raw emotion, and has a unique story line that keeps you hooked. It's a definite page turner!
Ms Thompson does an amazing job leering you in to make you want to read more.. her protagonist Lia Grey is a head strong spirit who refuses to break regardless of what is thrown at her. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and look forward to reading more of Thompson's work!
This book is amazing! Super fast read. I love the darkness and raw reality of feeling vulnerable and broken after hurt and heartbreak and the long hard journey of having to rediscover yourself and becoming confident once again....whatever it takes to survive, and realizing also it's ok to ask for help.
Great story! Gorish twists and turns all with a love story and you could feel her emotions. My hubby asked me why I was crying haha!
One day. 12 hours to read every single word! With just a few hours break.... I couldn't stop reading! I felt Lia's terror, her anguish, her rage!! A good book gets read. A great books gets lived! This is a GREAT book!!!!!!
The strength and fire in Lia, the main character, is so inspiring! And the superior writing of the author makes the whole book come alive. It's as if you are back in time and in the story itself. I cannot wait to read the next one!!
